Description of the Technology

The measurement method provides following information about investigated sample: sliding time of the overall distance, sliding times for all distances between optical sensors and instantaneous sliding speed for at least four overall distance stages.

Fig. 1. The device for measurements of sliding properties.

The device (see Fig. 1) consists of a rack (1), inclined plane (2), angle adjustment unit (3), Optical sensors (5), inclined plane locking units (6) and sample capture / activation units (6). The invention allows to perform measurements with minimal operator involvement.

Applications

Application is mainly related to friction pair metal – ice slip property investigation, but it can equally be applied to other material friction pair slip property investigation on a variety of substrate materials i.e. polymers – ice, metal – metal, etc

Advantages

The device allows to make ice friction investigation. It can achieve better detection of influence of different parameters on sliding properties than other measurement methods.
