Tools to accelerate development of a digitally controlled DC/DC converter
Kaspars Kroičs, Kristiāns Gaspersons, Ģirts Staņa

Description of the Technology

The tools can help create faster and more efficient control for a DC-DC converter designed to integrate an energy storage device into a DC-DC microgrid. An algorithm has been developed, which has also been created as a Matlab Simulink model and its operation has been tested. This algorithm changes the desired current value for the DC-DC converter in such a way as to increase efficiency during discharge. To speed up the creation of a DC-DC converter regulator, a program has been created that allows to obtain the coefficients of a digital regulator in a quick and easy way. The coefficients can then be inserted into a microcontroller program that already allows to control the converter. A printed circuit board design is also included, which allows you to create the first prototype faster.

Applications

DC-DC converters for integrating energy storage into a DC grid or electric drive system, can also be partially used in other DC-DC converter applications.

Advantages

Allows for quick generation of coefficients for controller development. Digital control solution with minimized delays. Energy savings by using the algorithm. Accelerated creation of new prototypes.
