The work considers the results of experimental research devoted to the peculiarities of vehicle construction materials deformation and failure, which were carried out by using the acoustic emission (AE) method. Flat specimens of industrial aluminum were exposed to static tensile tests. There was determined the possibility of estimating the nature and level of specimen failures on the basis of results obtained from recording AE signal parameters. The research shows that the AE method can be applied in practice to carry out construction tests and diagnostics of real vehicles including sea transport.
