Some Applications of Numerical Path-following in the Analysis of Dynamics of Switching Converters
7th International Conference-Workshop "Compatibility and Power Electronics" (CPE 2011): Student Forum 2011
Dmitrijs Pikuļins

In this paper the author demonstrates the feasibility of using numerical path-following technique instead of the conventional brute-force approach in the process of the construction of bifurcation diagrams of switched-mode DC-DC converters. The buck and boost converters operating in discontinuous current mode are used as example circuits, and the corresponding bifurcation diagrams, based on the discrete time iterative maps, are presented. Some useful applications of complete bifurcation diagrams are also discussed, including the improvement of EMI problems in switching converters.
