A concept map is a knowledge representation tool that provides semi-formal way to express learner’s knowledge structure and can be used for automated assessment. This paper summarizes different scoring criteria that could be included into scoring mechanism for IKAS- the intelligent Knowledge Assessment System that uses concept maps. Several IKAS characteristics affect the creation of an appropriate scoring mechanism: division of course into sequential stages, 6 degrees of task difficulty which can be changed during task solution, adaptive help mechanism and extension of expert’s concept map.
