Tendencies of development of power transmission networks, what are determined by efforts of modern production of semiconductor switches are presented in manuscript. The manuscript presents FACTS controllers, which are based on fully controllable semiconductor switches. Presentment of basic operation principles of FACTS controllers gives possibilities to recognise and to realise facilities of using field in power systems. These controllers give wide scope to improve quality and stability of parameters of existent transmission systems.
