In the research work the construction, operational, technological, economical, ecological and legal aspects of European offshore wind farms are reviewed. Basing on a European offshore experience and Baltic offshore parameters the potential of Latvian offshore wind energy was rated and solutions of wind power integration into county’s power system were proposed, keeping in mind the necessary future upgrade of Latvia’s power system. The research work includes Baltic offshore maps with considered wind farm areas along the shore of Kurzeme and theoretical calculations of possible energy output from proposed wind power capacity in the research work. The problems in the legal and power system fields are reviewed.
