Abstract Facile synthesis of protected 2,6-diazidopurine arabinonucleoside starting from tetra-O-acetyl-D-arabinose and 2,6-dichloropurine via 1-bromo-tri-O-acetylarabinose has been developed. A series of 2,6-bis-(1,2,3-triazolyl)-substituted purine arabinonucleosides has been synthesized in Cu(I) catalysed Huisgen 1,3-dipolar azide-alkyne cycloaddition reactions in moderate to good yields.
