The paper concerns with the findings of a study into terminology resources in land management. It examines theoretical foundations and international aspects of terminology development. The formal approach is preferred for development of branch`s terminology, because it is the way, how existing terminology resources can be rationally used, experts and language specialists involved, and official acknowledgement provided.
