With the functioning of the electric power market all participants in the market sell and buy electric power on the united equilibrium price. United equilibrium price for all participants of market can’t be established to be upon consideration of system limitations. Their individual equilibrium prices, called nodal price, correspond to different generator and load units. In the management process of the electrical power system (EPS) complex analysis of the system should be done in accordance with its economical and technical aspects. From a technical point of view EPS is a technical structure with an appropriate management system, but from an economical point of view, the EPS should be viewed as a business object that operates for profit. Electricity prices depend on the system parameters, technological constraints (generators power, the voltage limits in system nodes, network throughput), and from energy losses in the network. Reactive power component weights electricity networks. It increases the voltage drop in power transmission lines, contributes power lines boiling process and the transformer overloading. Reactive power flow not only increases the active power losses in the network, but also reduces the potential of the active power flow in the network with capacity constraints. The paper illustrates the effect of reactive power flow and its compensation on the nodal prices of active power in electricity pool market model. By compensation of reactive power losses are reduced, the maximum network throughput and the potential of active power flow is increased. It directly affects the nodal prices of active power in different network nodes.
