Future development of transport sector plays important role towards achieving European Union’s energy and climate policy goals. A wide range of policy instruments are used in Member States to reduce GHG emissions in transport sector. Hitherto support mechanisms mainly focused on promotion of first generation biofuels. This is going to change after Commission’s proposal to limit the use of first generation biofuels comes into force.
