Humanization of education is a hot topic, both in Latvia and in other post-Soviet countries. These countries have experienced a transition to democracy and a market economy. Changes in the socio-political life of the principles set new requirements for education, which should be focused on the learner as a person. The aim of this study is to compare the experience of the students in the acquisition of knowledge in mathematics and finding reasons for changes in their motivation to learn, develop recommendations that could improve the process of learning mathematics.
