At its most basic, training evaluation is the process of identifying how successful a piece of training has been and whether or not it was worth the cost. This involves collecting and analysing information to determine whether or not the aims of the training have been achieved, and making decisions about the future. These four areas which can be evaluated, in fact, constitute the four levels of evaluation, namely: - The trainee’s reactions to the training at the end of a particular course or programme. - The achievement of the training objectives. - The extent to which the trainees have applied what they have learned at the workplace, and the amount of improvement to their job performance as a result of the training. - The extent to which the training has helped to meet organisational objectives, either national or local.
