Abstract | Slouch back is the posture abnormality that becomes especially widespread among young people due to excessive use of computers. Shoulder index is convenient measure to evaluate rounded shoulder. It is calculated as the ratio of shoulder width measured between acromial processes from the front side of patient to the shoulder arch, measured from the back of the patient. The paper presents an attempt to evaluate shoulder index and shoulder roundness by means of photogrammetric measurements instead of measurements “in nature”, with the further goal to implement developed technique in health monitoring system. For this one used set of anatomical landmarks, easily defined from the photograph. Unfortunately, proposed measurements did not allow evaluate neither shoulder arches nor shoulder index itself quantitatively. The front shoulder angle, calculates using quasiacromion – anathomical landmark defined from the side view photograph measurements – may be used to test shoulder roundness with sensitivity 0.81 and specifity 0.69. In females, two qualitative parameters may be used to test shoulder roundness: armpit protraction (S = 0.86, Sp = 0.80)and armpit tilt angle (S = 1.00, Sp = 0.90). Besides, this test does not work in males. |
