The present study is focused on vacuum deposition and characterization of CdZnTe (CZT) films with through-thickness gradient of Zn concentration in order to obtain graded band gap structure. The spatial distribution of Zn concentration was determined by the energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS).
Preliminary analysis by the XRD and SEM methods shows a good structural quality of the films. Further EDS cross section analysis reveals gradient in Zn concentration. Namely, the smooth variation of Zn concentration from 5 atomic % on a surface to 20 atomic % at substrate was observed, which corresponds to a variation of band gap from 1.55 to 1.63 eV.
