Dielectric elastomer actuators are relatively new type of actuators that are developed using EAP and are promising due to it's attractive performance (large strain, good efficiency, high response speed, etc.). Further paper examines actuation response to validate capability of developing a new configuration of DE actuator. Due to ease of handling and good compliance, acrylic elastomer and graphite powder as electrode were selected. Circular DE actuators with various rate of pre-stretch were manufactured, each of which was tested with actuation voltage in range of 1 to 12 kV. Measurements of response dependent of voltage were taken using video extensometer. A high response speed, large strain and viscous effect of acrylic elastomer were observed. Performed experiments were compared with FEM simulation results.
