Inese Biukšāne

The aim of the research is to analyse the results of the implemented aquaculture projects and define the factors, influencing viability of the projects, in addition providing recommendations for development and improvement of further policy in the Latvian aquaculture sector. On the ground of qualitative data the author carried out the analysis on support receivers and the results of their implemented projects, whereas on the basis of the quantitative data the author defined the factors, influencing viability of the projects. As a result of the analysis it was established that several social and economic, political and environmental factors influence the viability of the Latvian aquaculture, which have an impact on the further development of the sector. The elaborated preconditions for facilitation of the aquaculture projects’ viability may help the institutions, involved in the creation of the fisheries policy, more successfully elaborate and improve the common sector policy.
