In this paper, the factors connected to the use of opportunities of modern information technologies for the increase of competitiveness are considered. The role of information systems in the formation of competitive advantages in hierarchy of management of enterprises is proved. Classification of information systems is performed, proceeding from their influence on the increase of competitiveness. The article offers to link the use of information technologies with the reorientation of culture of business operation, based on the increase of knowledge of the administrative personnel in the field of information technologies, and increase of requirements to experts of information technologies to train them to consider their work according to the purposes of business of the enterprise.
