In this research polymer nanostructured carbon composites as VOC (volatile organic compounds) vapour sensors are going to be developed and investigated. Composites will be composed using ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA; Sigma Aldrich) and highly structured carbon nanoparticles (CB; PRINTEX XE-2) with average primary particle size 30 nm. EVA is chosen because of its partial polarity: ethylene is non-polar and vinyl acetate part is polar polymer, so this points the composites ability to detect both polar and non-polar VOC vapours.

Keywords
VOC (volatile organic compounds) sensors, polymer-nanostructured carbon composites, benzene detection.
