Latvia, among the Baltic countries, is the leader in the production of "green" energy, since the basis of its energy generation is formed from the cascade of three HPPs on the Daugava river. This fact lends topicality to the task of effective control of HPPs in cascade, because those are directly participating in electricity trading on the Nord Pool. The present paper considers issues related to the influence of the initial characteristics of HPP reservoirs within this HPP cascade on the determination of the amount of electricity generated by the cascade ensuring maximum profit in the case of participation in the electricity market.
