The role of the distribution system operators in the whole electricity supply process is very important. The main tasks addressed to the system operator are critical energy infrastructure protection and reliability of supply provision on the corresponding level. The paper describes a genetic algorithm, which is adapted to the optimization of the distribution network to minimize losses and maximize reliability.
