The article ‘On the Interpretation of Russian пацан’ discusses the Russian word пацан, ‘boy, lad’, which is problematic from the point of view of etymology. The author offers to interpret this word as ‘pugnacious fellow; squabbler’, connected to the interjection бац! ‘bang’.
