Gadolinium oxide (Gd2O3) is a good absorber of ionizing radiation. Therefore, nanopowders and nanofilms of Gd2O3 are promising materials for nanosized radiation detectors. In this research nanocrystalline powders and films of Gd2O3 were fabricated by extraction-pyrolytic method. The produced samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and atomic force microscopy (AFM).
