Modelling IT Security Risk Management in Academic Environment

This paper addresses the problem in academic environment where the balance must be found between academic freedom and IT security challenges that every education and research organization must face today. The proposed approach includes risk management model which quantifies risks, based on actual threats and balances it with academic freedom that every academic environment employs. Preventive IT security measures that could be taken and solutions to improve IT security in academic environment are discussed in this paper.
