Torsional Vibrations of a Drivetrain with W Arrangement of Driveshafts

Driveshafts are commonly used in modern propulsion systems as a compensating element. Equal angles at the driveshaft joints should be preserved, to avoid creation of inertial moments and torsional vibrations, which are transfered further in the drivetrain. Comparison of torsional driveshaft vibrations is carried out, when either vertical or horizontal reaction rod is utilized together with a driveshaft in W (M) arrangement.
