In Liepaja before World War II, a spеcial attention was paid to the architectural design of the city center and the Seaside Park, in the creation of which in the early 20th century, the outstanding landscape architect of the Russian Empire Georg Kuphaldt (1853–1938) participated. A unique landscape in a dendrologically diverse parkwas formed, combining stylistically different plantations. In the 1930s, Latvia followed by modernization trends, and architecture became stylistically diverse. Important were the search for a national style. In the southern part of the Seaside Park, at the entrance to the City Sports Square, under the influence of constructivism low rectangular terraces from the evicted stone for the symmetrical layout rock garden were created on four levels. In the Seaside Park, by combining landscape and geometric forms, special compositions of plants were created, that reflect the nature of Latvia. Perhaps, in the reconstruction of the park participated a wonderful gardener Andrejs Zeidaks (1874–1964). In Liepaja the most significant project of the gardening concept on 2016–2019 was the restoration of the historical rock garden in the Seaside Park. All greens were re-planned using varieties of flowers that were characteristic of the original rock garden.
