Methylenecyclopropane Opening in Liquid Sulfur Dioxide

Methylenecyclopropanes (MCP) are readily accessible molecules and valuable building blocks in organic synthesis. Recently, ring opening of MCP with Lewis acids has been reported. We demonstrate liquid sulfur dioxide as unique solvent for ring opening reactions of MCP with I group metal halides.
