The railroad is intended for transportation of goods and passengers. Than freight density of the railroad, subjects it more is more profitable. Efficiency and reliability of a track in many respects depends on a good shape rails, cross ties and fastenings. Let's consider fastenings connecting rails with cross ties. KB and Foslo rail fastenings are generally applied at the Latvian railway. Fastenings of KB found to themselves a good reputation any more one decade. These fastenings represent a type of a separate fastening where by means of bolts separately connect a rail sole lined and other bolt - a lining to a cross tie. Foslo fastening for the Latvian railroad is rather new type of a fastening. In this fastening there is one bolt and a spring which holds together both a rail sole, and a cross tie. And here some years dispute - what - a fastening better does not cease. The article deals with the positive and negative properties of these fastenings.
