PEP LNK at the End of 2019: on the Future of Latvia's NEKP 2030 and Electric Cars

On December 12 last year, the Senate Hall of the Latvian Academy of Sciences (LAS) hosted a joint extended meeting of the Latvian National Committee of the World Energy Council (PEP LNK) and the LAS Department of Physics and Engineering, dedicated to the Latvian National Energy and Climate Plan 2021–2030 (NEKP 2030) and the development of electromobility in the world. Āris Žīgurs, Chairman of the Board of JSC Latvenergo and the Vice-President of PEP LNK, as well as Edijs Šaicāns, Director of the Energy Market and Infrastructure Department of the Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia made presentations and answered questions. The future of the Latvian energy sector, including the decarbonisation scenarios of the transport sector, was also discussed by Professor Namejs Zeltiņš, President of PEP LNK, Juris Savickis, President of ITERA Latvija Ltd., Vice President of PEP LNK, Gatis Junghāns, Member of the Board of JSC Augstsprieguma Tīkls, Prof. Andris Krēsliņš, Auditor of PEP LNK, Normunds Talcis, Chairman of the Board of JSC "Rīgas Siltums", and other interested parties.
