With increase of intermittent generation (wind and solar PV), reduction and high variation (more cycling) of electricity output of thermal power plants, the importance of different energy storage technologies start to prevail. Obviously, at the initial stage of the decarbonization process, society will be highly dependent on the production of energy from fossil fuel power plants. This is why it is so important to improve energy efficiency and CO2 reduction through improved technological process.
