The blends of varying proportions of biodiesel fuel (FATA) containing fatty acid methyl esters (FAME), triacetin (TA) and several intermediates were synthesised accordingly to Latvian patent LV 15373, and summer diesel fuel was prepared, analysed, and compared with “Viada Baltija” diesel fuel. The selected fuel properties (viscosity, density, carbon residue, and cold flow properties) were tested according to LVS-EN 14214 standard. The results indicated that the prepared biodiesel fuel has a good potential in using as a renewable diesel engine fuel additive, obtained by simultaneous conversion of glycerol to TA. Blends containing 5 wt% to 25 wt% of FATA in summer diesel yielded the properties closely matching those of summer diesel.
