The aim of this publication is to prove the importance of the interior design of university/institute during the process of the study course. A special attention is pointed to the view that the function of any apartment is a base of the designing of such apartment or, being based on it, furnishing of specific interior is performed. Especially it is important to construct apartments, which are provided for training of emerging designers and for the improvement of creative practice. These rooms are not only impersonal spaces – storages of knowledge, they are also artistic objects – at the same time personal and public apartments. The apartments of educational establishment must be constructed so that it composes humane, socially open space, promoting both an upbringing, and education. Any university, being as a successor of a culture, is a component of a culture created by the development of the society, and which has become as an essential basement of the development of the society itself. The spatial environment is the reflection of the society, which clearly shows its maturity, priorities, principles, experience, and ability to plan, to foresee, to dare and to do. The urgent topic in Latvia like anywhere in the world is a question about the preserving of historical values and the development of a new understanding about the spatial environment. Looking on the past with understanding, everyone can hope that the future public space will become friendlier for a human and the nature.
