This article explains the classification of adjustable drive systems by examining slotless motors and comparing them to slotted motors. As motors evolve, so does their design, offering new technologies to improve engine efficiency and make torque smoother, and one of those solutions is the slotless engine design, which doesn't have a division in the common electric motor analogy. The paper also describes electric motors, which are listed in general analogy, with emphasis on slotless motors. Such motors are commonly called brushless DC motors, brushless AC motors, permanent magnet synchronous motors or servo motors. The article includes a description of the advantages of brushless motor designs compared to classic DC and AC motors, using the method of comparing motor characteristics, designs and properties. Brushless permanent magnet motors are available in a variety of shapes and sizes that can provide both rotary and linear motion with higher precision than slotted motors. They are characterized by high torque density and high efficiency. The article is useful for researchers, electrical engineers and electrical drive students studying drive systems and especially brushless motor electric drive systems.
