3D Printing of Light Sensitive Biopolymers for Soft Robotics
PSCM User Meeting 2024 2024
Maksims Jurinovs, Sergejs Gaidukovs

Over the past ten years, the global market for materials for 3D printing has expanded rapidly. Currently, photopolymers account for a great part of global material sales. However, the general use of this technology is limited by the unavailability of sustainable resins that can compete with commercial materials when used in UV assisted 3D printing. To lessen additive manufacturing’s materials negative environmental effects, it is crucial to produce "green" substitutes. We showcase the potential and adaptability of biopolymers here. We demonstrate how a proper macromolecular design, reinforcing fillers, and 3D printing together open up a wide range of advanced use cases that may be achieved using a "green" approach.
