The article focuses on regional studies and provides a view into the creative work of Lower Kurzeme poet and publicist Aina Pāvulīte (1942). In more than 50 years of Pāvulīte’s creative work, her anthropological observations and notes mark an impressive field of life writing. Pāvulīte heard the life stories of Lower Kurzeme people, wrote them down, edited, and fictionalised them during her years as a journalist. The stories were published in the collection „Biju savā latviešu mētelītī tā pārsalusi… Atmiņu stāsti. Vēstis no 20. gadu simteņa” (2017), where the small individual stories flow into the great narrative of history. The poet’s own life story has achieved its artistically brightest resonance in poems in two collections, „Garais sauciens” (1982) and „Vecenīte” (2018). In the context of the mentioned anthropological studies, the research aims to evaluate an important part of Pāvulīte’s creative work related to the issues of ageing and long life. The main focus is on the manifestations of the spectrum of feminine subjectivity and the issues linked with gender research grounding in the attempts of ecriture feminine to record the feminine in the text. The representation of women in both poetry collections has been analysed by evaluating the typology and reproduction of historically and archetypically stable and stereotyped feministic models in particular poetry images. The different aspects of feminine identity have been analysed from the perspective of lifetime and eternity. In the poetry by Pāvulīte, the philosophy of age manifests in an older woman’s reconciliation with her life, based on the understanding of the phenomenon of the divine in the traditions of myth and folklore and, at the same time, Christianity and the creation of value system. The methodological basis of the research is the works by feminist theoreticians (H. Cixous, R. Braidotti, L. Irigaray, and others), researchers of cultural memory (A. Assmann and others), and several studies in gerontology (P. Baltes and others).
