Terms are used in everyday life in scientific fields, research, economic fields, practical language use, translations, etc. Traditionally, they are organized in dictionaries of terms, the main task of which is to conveniently and quickly provide the most important information about each concept named by the relevant term. Their use is often associated with the scientific style, because their consistent use determines the scientific nature of the text. Over the past 25–30 years, several hundred dictionaries of terms have supplemented Latvian terminology. Their publication quantitatively occupy a very significant part in Latvian lexicography. The doctoral thesis examines contemporary Latvian dictionaries of terms published in the last 30 years and their characteristics (the sample was formed in the period from 2016 to the end of 2022 both by visiting libraries and using the electronic catalogues of libraries available online). In terminography, there is no unambiguous understanding of which dictionaries are considered dictionaries of terms, there are no stable criteria for identifying these dictionaries, and the boundaries in the typology of dictionaries are not strictly drawn, which is why terminological publications are more often referred to rather than dictionaries of terms. In this study, a terminological dictionary is understood as any lexicographic publication that compiles terminological entries. In turn, terminological entries are those whose entry words are not only officially approved terms, but also other words (and word combinations) used in the function of terms, which significantly help to understand the terminological system of the relevant industry or field.
