This year, September 11 marks ten years since the Gren biomass cogeneration plant in Jelgava began operating, providing homes and businesses in Jelgava with heat energy produced from local, renewable resources, mainly from sustainably sourced wood chips. Assessing the plant's contribution to reducing fossil resources in energy production by replacing them with local, renewable resources, as well as the measures taken at the plant for more careful use of resources, the Gren biomass cogeneration plant in Jelgava was selected as the "Latvian Bioenergy Success Story 2023" in the "European Bioenergy Day" campaign organized by Bioenergy Europe.
