Due to rising energy prices and outdated systems, the transformation of the heating and cooling sector is becoming inevitable. In Valmiera, as part of the Green4HEAT project, experts from eight European countries discussed the implementation of low-temperature heating networks at a two-day meeting. RTU professor Dagnija Blumberga emphasized urgent action to reduce costs and emissions. Good practice examples from Poland and Belgium were presented, as well as a simulation was performed with an RTU-developed tool, analyzing efficiency and financing models. Participants visited the Valmiera biomass boiler house, which demonstrates modern technologies and local energy independence.
