The structure of managerial individuality of Daugava river hydropower plants both in normal and in emergency operational conditions are described and illustrated in this paper. Control algorithms of whole Daugava cascade and each plant separately are analyzed. The paper describes in which way plants are managed and controlled by central dispatch service (CDS) of Latvenergo under normal operational conditions as well as behavior of cascade during emergency situations. Types of emergency automation are reviewed that cascade and stations are subjected to as well as other stations and substations, which can bring changes in cascade work during power system failures. Main task is to explore management system of Daugava power plants for further possible optimization of system to achieve much better efficiency.
