The paper diskusses the problems of distributed energy generation, it defines and analyses the related technical, economical and ecological indices. Concerning the emission trading and joint implementation projects, they emphasize the importance of climate indices for evaluating the installation of small- scale cogeneration plants. These indices play a significant role when selecting among the energy sources to justify the installation and operation of such plants. The specifity if Latvian situation is that in the municipal district heating systems there are numerous boiler houses that need urgent renovation. this can be done by installing the mentioned cogeneration units. This paper presents the results of data collection and processing of small scale (365 kW) CHP, giving as an example a diagram showing the changes in the electricity and heat ratio versus the heat energy production. The regression analysis shows rather small scatter in this technical parameter (0.6-0.67) in all the range of monthly heat energy generation by CHP.
