This article summarizes results of bachelor’s work. It contains comparative analysis of three–dimensional computer graphics theoretic basis and practical implementation, using two popular and widely spread technologies – Direct3D and OpenGL. The article includes necessary theoretic information (co-ordinate system, mathematical description of graphical primitives, geometric transformations specification, specific of three–dimensional scene lighting and texturing stages) which allows to realize three–dimensional graphics objects visualization on code level. Specification of 3D scene was developed and realized with both technologies. This allowed performing all necessary quantitative and qualitative measurements in order to outline distinctive aspects of both technologies. Based on results of mentioned measurements, general conclusion about possible application fields for each technology is being made.
