Andrejs Lesovskis

The goal of this paper is to provide a clear understanding about the Semantic Web: why we need it, and what is the potential value that can be added by the vision of the Semantic Web. Semantic Web is a mesh of information linked up in such a way as to be easily processable by machines, on a global scale. Semantic Web technology helps to structure the data to make it machine-readable and understandable, therefore it can be and is used for such tasks as search engine optimization, data mining effectiveness improvement and knowledge management systems enhancement. Semantic Web is also the key technology to create the machine-readable Web. Such themes as the current data representation on World Wide Web, Semantic Web concept and how it can improve and extend World Wide Web, technologies, which can be used to realize Semantic Web solutions, are covered in depth.
