Creativity in the Translation of Technical Texts
Towards a Better Language Education 2009

The concept of creativity has become increasingly popular in numerous scientific areas including linguistics. It has its general characteristics, as well as specific implications in each of the subject areas. Creativity in technical translation is a complex and contraversial issue. In the article it is pointed out and shown how professional renedering of the technical source text into the target language is not a reproductive, but in most cases - a creative act. Comparative examples in English and Latvian are provided and analysed.
