In most geotechnical research it is assumed that glaciogenic soils are comparatively homogeneous with low level changes in properties. In the experimental part more than 1000 cone penetration resistivity measurements and natural volume moisture in situ measurements in glacial lodgement till. The research was carried out in north of Latvia, in massive glacial lodgement till chosen for this reason without any visually noticeable stratification and (as it was shown by laboratory tests) without significant changes in granulometry. It can be concluded that visually unnoticeable geologic structures and unhomogeneities in geotechnical properties are important factors for validation of geotechnical data and their further interpretation.
