Objective of this paper is to examine the principles of biological and artificial immune systems and to design a generic scheme of the safety-driven control system for electric vehicles’ drives and brakes. The authors investigate the principles of AIS, the shape-space concept to represent the input data, solutions population adaptation algorithms, and the overall possibility to use AIS for transport safety tasks in a manner quite similar to network intrusion detection systems. The system is a hybrid of AIS which performs sensor data anomaly detection and a self-organizing map used for classification of detected signals. The system design is tested by authors on a programmable logic controller with additional necessary modules.
