Concept maps as a pedagogical tool have become rather popular for teaching, learning and knowledge assessment. However, known computer-based concept map assessment systems use rather primitive scoring models. The paper describes a novel scoring mechanism which takes into account such factors as the degree of task difficulty, the number of mistakes, and frequency of students' usage of help and is implemented in the concept map based intelligent knowledge assessment system.
