The article includes the research of the efficiency aspects of district heating
systems. Our goal is to study and evaluate the usefulness and suitability of various
measures and technical solutions in an essential area of district heating systems –
improving safety of operation and efficiency of district heating networks. There is the
analysis of the most important drawback of district heating systems – causing heat
losses and theoretical and practical aspects of their assessment included. Also positive
and negative aspects of decreasing the temperature of the heat carrier have been
studied both theoretically and in the course of experiments.
