Inga Iļjina, Renāta Varfolomejeva

In the paper the effect of energy market liberalization in Latvia is considered. Latvia was one of the first countries in the Baltic, which opened its electricity market, thereby giving to consumers an opportunity to buy energy from foreign producers. Because of liberalization, it was expected greater development of market, entry of new participants and increased choice for consumers of electricity (especially large companies), which would make the organization of power purchase more effective.
