Fault Location for Three Terminals Transmission Line
2005
Martin Šun, Tatjana Lomane

The main objective of line protection and monitoring terminals is fast, selective and reliable operating for faults on a protected line. Reliable information on the fault location greatly decreases the downtime of the protected lines and increases the total availability of power system. The fault location algorithm presented in this paper has many advantages over existing methods. This algorithm can calculate the location fault in nearly real time, it is immune to tapped loads, independent on the fault resistance and does not require data alignment or prefault load information. The error rate of calculation fault location was less than one percent for three terminal algorithm.
