Non-renewable natural resources world-wide decreases, while the consumption continues to grow. Acquisition process becomes more expensive. Throughout the cycle of non-renewable resource extraction to disposal are used large energy power amounts, observed CO2 emissions, water resources pollution, works other life and environmental quality degrading factors. Consequently in the world is increasingly seen growth in demand for renewable resources which associates with energy-efficient, environmentally friendly renewable resource extraction, recycling in ecological, biodegradable materials with high added value by reducing material and energy capacity. Particular attention is focused to the natural fiber raw materials and their use amplification availability of both textile and non-textile products. One of such resources is the hemp fiber, which is highly productive, uses significantly less synthetic fertilizer than other crops, gives a positive effect on agro-ecosystems, improves soil, and suppresses weeds, pests and diseases. Hemp fiber is one of the strongest and most tolerant natural fibers with high tensile strength, wet strength, and other characteristics that make it technically suitable for various industrial products. Therefore, hemp is seen as one of the most promising sources of renewable resources to replace non-renewable components for a wide range of industrial products. Latvian hemp sowing volumes are registered only in year 2008 and in year 2009 was grown 250 ha. To create a hemp products (fibers and straw) into innovative products, necessary wide range in Latvian climatic and soil conditions grown hemp varieties fractions studies and comparative analysis with in EU allowed and for cultivation suitable varieties. This article explores a comparative study of results from testing the 2009th in Latvia grown local genotype "Purini" and commercially available, in the EU registered and in Poland grown variety of industrial hemp "Bialobrzeskie". Studies have been conducted to determine the strength of hemp fiber and relaxation properties. In studies of fiber strength were used small primary fiber bundles. Small fiber bundles resistance studies of the varieties “Purini” and "Bialobrzeskie” were performed on the machine UB -5.
